It's your language. You use it every day. You should strive to master it. My late mother, a 27-year, graduate-level professor of English, embedded that in my brain once upon a time. I’m not nearly as smart as she was, but I’m sharp enough to recognize that the vast majority of native-born Americans can’t speak or write English worth a lick.

WTF?
All right.Well the one thing’s for sure, if you’re gonna learn how to play table tennis, you gotta do it from an Olympian here in Beijing.
My mom is a grammar nut too and she instilled it me. She even started a blog, with my help, last year, to post some of her pet peeves. She's gotten most of them out of her system now and hasn't posted in a long time but she still rants about grammar from time to time and never fails to correct me if I use a word wrong!
I love this blog - somebody has to keep track of how badly people are using the language! Great blog.
Maui Girl: I'm glad you like enjoy the blog! It doesn't get many visitors any more. Tell you mom she needs to start working on her blog again. God knows there's plenty of fodder out there. It's fun, plus it's like community service :-)

Nothing like getting one of the best for a teacher...
