Sic, I Tell ya

The author of this Yahoo! News article is either complicit in the perpetual dumbing-down of the U.S., or he's just dumb himself, and doesn't know the word sic would've been appropriate here:

This is the second appearance on this humble blog for Ms. Phillips.

While reading the following quote on the air today, she subsituted the word abhor with the word despise.

"I have three kids, so I abhor sex offenses." - John Carleton
"I have three kids, so I despise sex offenses." - Kyra Phillips' version of the same sentence.

Why dumb it down Kyra?

In another story, she pronounced the word Illinois as Ellinois. Hmmmm...
