It's your language. You use it every day. You should strive to master it. My late mother, a 27-year, graduate-level professor of English, embedded that in my brain once upon a time. I’m not nearly as smart as she was, but I’m sharp enough to recognize that the vast majority of native-born Americans can’t speak or write English worth a lick.

Wow
"...this is the first time ever that we will have a decade where an "indesee" would actually drop..."
Stephanie Elam, CNN news, 12/28/2009, talking about the stock market. I think she meant to say, "index."

Maybe she meant "indice," thinking that the plural is "indices" and therefore the singular must be "indice."
I'm pretty sure that's the case; I'd just never heard anyone say that before.
